Jingle those keychains

So I was thinking today, why don't we take thousands of keychains to Denver and jingle them so McCain can't lose count again...

Earlier today, I rushed to the defense of Russ Feingold.

The Russian situation scares me

I'm very concerned with the attitude of many in the media and in the country to what occured in the aftermath of the Georgia conflict. Don't get me wrong, Russia was most likely in the wrong based on what the media has stated (again, though, didn't they spend half a year convincing us Saddam was about to nuke us on the mainland?). My problem is the fallout of "maverick" diplomacy and the repercussions of these actions. Obama initially came out and qualified his answers, measuring rhetoric against what facts he knew, doing what most grown ups would do when dealing with any situation. McCain on the other hand, literally flew off at the mouth, verbally challenging the Russian leadership without any type of background of the complete situation. I will admit the longer the situation escalated, initially, the more McCain ended up looking somewhat right, but do we really need a president who would take that diplomatic risk? Why isn't the MSM following up on this, and his comments in 2006 that may have indirectly led to the Georgian president overstepping his own abilities, counting on us to back him up? With most of our military and its resources tie up in 2 wars (1 we've already dropped the ball on), why is this acceptable behavior? Why is this being framed in his favor when anyone rationally viewing his reaction initially should be very concerned? I don't know about the rest of you, but this is the memo, more than this housegate, more than the draft(even though that can be worked in), more than almost anything else that the Obama campaign needs to hammer McCain over and over again on. Sorry for the hit and run run on paragraph, don't have much time to formulate this.

The Olympic Failure

Cross-posted at Taylor Marsh.

In the summer of 2001, as the International Olympic Committee neared its decision for the 2008 Summer Games, all of the chatter was about the presumed front-runner, Beijing, and China's dismal human rights record.

Although the American government was officially neutral, US lawmakers weighed in against Beijing's bid. The late Rep. Tom Lantos (D-CA) wrote an op-ed for the New York Times urging the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to reject Beijing's bid. Others surmised that the Olympics might force the government to be less repressive. A member of a pro-reform group in mainland China even penned an op-ed in the New York Times arguing that the Games could bring change.

In the end, Beijing's bid was successful. Despite the calls for reform and the hope that the Olympics might change China, little seems to have changed. Some would argue that the human rights situation in China declined in the run-up to the Games.

FactCheck.org Confirms Obama Born in US

As much as I hate to disprove such hard hitting and objective investigative journalists as TexasDarlin and Michelle Malkin, I must pass on the news that it has been confirmed that Barack Obama was born in the United States and is indeed eligible to be president.

Will Bower, LIAR (UPDATED)

Remember this video of Will Bower, a leader in the PUMA movement, announcing that the PUMA's didn't need Obama's help raising money for Hillary?

Halperin floating Sen. Lugar (R-IN) as surprise Obama VP pick

Just posted moments ago under the banner "HOOSIER VALUES"

http://thepage.time.com

This would definitely be a surprise and, if it happens (which I think is unlikely) would likely prod McCain into choosing Lieberman or a moderate Republican like Ridge who supports abortion rights.
